WalletHub computes three scores for each state. The Literacy rank reflects WalletHub’s grading of more than 21,000 responses nationwide to its financial literacy survey. Financial planning and habits includes a state’s median credit score, how many people have rainy-day funds, how many are saving for their children’s college educations, and how many are unbanked.
