10 best states to live in

The United States is a big country, and each of the 50 states has its plusses and minuses. Consumer finance website WalletHub has undertaken to rank all 50 states based on five categories.

Affordability includes such factors as cost of living, property taxes and housing affordability. The economy ranking looks at such things as the state’s unemployment rate, the growth in building permits and the level of entrepreneurial activity. Education and health takes into account factors including the quality of public schools and the high school graduation rate, as well as the premature death rate and life expectancy. Quality of life factors in average workweek, average commute time, access to public transportation and the availability of facilities like museums, movie theaters and fitness centers. The safety ranking includes the rates of violent crimes and property crimes and the number of law enforcement personnel per capita.
